Refresh | Spring Skin Care Tips

During the winter months, your skin is exposed to harsh conditions such as strong wind and colder temperatures. These harsh weather conditions can cause irritation, inflammation, and dry skin. Fear not because the experts at Reveal Skin & Body have gathered helpful tips to ensure that your skin will bloom beautifully this spring!

Repair Damaged Skin

Spring cleaning your skin starts with collagen repair! During the winter, your skin is exposed to harsh conditions. The harsh winter weather can cause cracked skin and damage to collagen. For skin repair, a DermaPen (Collagen Induction Therapy) specifically helps repair collagen. The Dermapen is a micro-needling system that uses a disposable tip consisting of 12 micro-needles that penetrate the skin creating micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production. This encourages the body to repair through the skins normal physiological process. It is a long-lasting alternative to injectable collagen and other dermal fillers.

Cleanse Often

When the temperature increases, your body is more prone to sweat. During the warmer months your skin constantly replenishes natural oils; therefore, experts suggest washing your skin twice a day. Washing in the morning helps remove dirt and bacteria while washing at night will remove makeup, particles, and pollution that build up throughout the day.

Remember to Exfoliate

Be sure to exfoliate twice per week! Exfoliating helps unclogs pores, rejuvenates and brightens your skin while allowing moisturizers to penetrate more deeply. If you suffer from tight or flaking skin, exfoliating can help alleviate some of the common symptoms. If you don’t begin to see an improvement, consider scheduling an appointment with your dermatologist, as this may be a sign of an underlying condition.

Change Your Diet

Your diet and eating habits have a direct impact on your skin health. Why not couple a change in seasons with a diet change? Spring gives us wholesome fresh fruits and vegetables such as berries, oranges, squash, eggplant, tomatoes and much more. Increasing your fruit and vegetable intake can fuel collagen, improve skin elasticity, and lighten your skin. As you begin to plan your new diet, make sure you are getting enough essential vitamins.
